Fern M. Waggoner passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born Christmas Day, 1928 in Clinton County, MI to Algurtha Munson Clark. Fern was an active member of the Eureka Christian Church for many years, teaching Sunday school vacation bible school and held several offices within the church. During her working career she was employed at several jobs such as Clinton Memorial Hospital and Wheel Inn Restaurant. Fern was mostly known for her 30 plus years with the St. Johns Public Schools, especially Eureka Elementary School where she was known as the “lunch lady” or “Grandma Waggoner”. On November 24, 1949 (Thanksgiving Day) she married Gordon Waggoner and he preceded her in death in 1990. Surviving are two daughters, Gloria (David) Dunkel and Linda Devereaux; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Angela (Joe) Bennett and Tate and Zoe, Eric (Brandi) Dunkel and Jace, Blake and new baby, Joshua (Nicole) Devereaux and Sunni and Trey, Jesse Devereaux and Easton Devereaux, Ellie Spitzley and Dominic, Noah, Aleah and Bailey Spitzley, a very special granddaughter, Laura Campari of Italy; a sister, Shirley (Gale) Wood; a brother, Stanley Clark and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 12, 2018 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Camp Barakel 1798 Shear Lake Rd. Fairview, MI 48621.
