Lewis Richard (Dick) Brace, Age 88, of St. Johns, passed away July 7, 2018. He was born in Lansing and graduated from Dimondale. Dick was an electronics technician for the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a plasterer for 37 years retiring in 1992.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and subjected his family and friends to many road kill meals. He loved his garden and feeding the birds and various critters, most of all he loved spending time with his large family and of course a good joke. He was preceded in death by his sister Rhonda and grandson Jack. Dick is survived by Patricia his loving wife of 64 years.; his brother, Robert Brace, and sisters, Lois Bailey, Carol Hanner, and Linda Cottenham; his son David Brace and 5 daughters; Margie (Jerry) Gates, Marie Brace, Susie Brace, Sherry (Larry) Haeck, Laurie (Sam) Bass, and his 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was a good man, always there for his family and friends. We will miss his fake grouchiness, his comforting arms and his smirky smile.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Wednesday July 11, 2018 beginning at 11:00 AM with a memorial service at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom VanDyke officiating. Military honors will be provided by St. Johns Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johns Honor Guard or a local humane society.
