Louis W. Shellito died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 83. He was born March 20, 1935 in Lansing, MI, the son of Alfred and Bertha (Carmen) Shellito. Louis is a Navy veteran from the Korean War where he served on the USS Hailey, DD556 and was a member of the Tin Can Sailor’s Association. He was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church serving as a church elder for many years and loved his church family. Louis worked for Diamond Reo, retiring in 1970. He enjoyed square dancing, John Wayne, and telling jokes. He had a wonderful sense of humor throughout his entire life and a hearty laugh that warmed your heart. He was an enthusiastic karaoke singer, and an avidfisherman. He was the youngest of 16 children, an awesome dad and grandfather and a loving, devoted husband. He had a passion for life, and people, and always gave 100 percent to any endeavor he was involved in. Surviving is his wife Ann; his children, Rick (Carrie) Hoag, Renell (Andy) Smith, Amy Shellito, Randy Hoag, Ryan (Robin Stevens) Hoag, Roxanne Jesko, LouAnn (Raydell) Byrd, Rose (Nathan) Crampton, Clarence (Juanita) Shellito, Clinton Thomas Shellito. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Louis Shellito II. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 8990 Church Road. St. Johns, Michigan, with Pastor Quentin Nuttmann officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, MI. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Building Fund.
