Paul K. Jopke passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at the age of 55. He was born December 29, 1949 in St. Johns the son of Paul F. and Mabel H. (Kennett) Jopke. Paul was a 1968 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, was a Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam War where he served on the USS Eversole, was a member of American Legion Post # 153, V.F.W. Post # 4113 and the Elks Lodge #1610. He loved dogs, enjoyed fishing and hunting and remodeling his home with his friends, who did most of the work. Paul was a car enthusiast, and his pride and joy was his 1965 Chevrolet Malibu which he drag raced. He retired from Dana Corp. where he worked in quality control. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved sister Melissa Jean Stephens, and a cousin Dr. Janet H. Jopke. Surviving are two daughters, Melissa Jopke of Lansing and Brooke Jopke of Okemos; sister, Catherine A. Pouch and husband Thomas of Toledo, OH; niece, Kimberly (Pouch) Rhynes and husband Glenn of Fullerton, CA; nephew, Christopher T. Pouch and wife Diane of Surprise, AZ; cousin, Jerry Jopke of Bay City; sweetheart, Rachel (Harlow) Hollingsworth of Midland, and many friends. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 400 E. Walker St., St. Johns, MI with the Rev. Dr. Richard Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or the Capitol Area Humane Society.
