Richard G. May, a.k.a "The Lone Ranger", age 84 of St. Johns, MI passed way at Hospice House in Lansing on Friday, June 15, 2018. The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Monday, June 18, 2018, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard.
Richard was born on October 16, 1933 in Lansing, MI the son of Leroy and Marie (Ramsey) May. He graduated from Eastern High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army Military Police and had worked in Law Enforcement all his life. He had retired in 1996 from the Clinton County Sheriff Dept. working as a patrol officer, undersheriff and detective. Then to continue his passion to drive he worked at Bee's Chevrolet as a car porter. He was a member of the National Sheriff's Association and life member of The Central Michigan Law Enforcement Assn. He loved searching the roadsides for cans and bottles, spending time with friends, neighbors, family and especially with his grandson, Tyler.
Richard is survived by his wife, Judith (Hopp) May of 50 years whom he married on May 25, 1968, Children, Kathy Jo (Mark) McPherson of Gaylord, MI., Anna May of Alaska and Darren (Gina) of West Bloomfield, MI. His grandson, Tyler Richard May of Sterling Heights, his sister- in-law Connie May of Lansing, MI.as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice or St. John's Lutheran Church.
